Galaxy sign Zanka from Anderlecht
MLS champions the Los Angeles Galaxy has signed Danish international defender Mathias Jorgensen from Anderlecht, the club said on Wednesday.
Jorgensen, who plays under his nickname 'Zanka', joined Anderlecht from Premier League club Brentford in August.
The 34-year-old centre half had previously played for Turkish club Fenerbahce, English team Huddersfield Town and Copenhagen.
"We are thrilled to welcome Zanka to the LA Galaxy," said LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz.
"Zanka is a five-time Danish League and Danish Cup champion, has experience in the English Premier League and has represented Denmark in over 30 matches including at the 2018 World Cup.
"Zanka’s quality and experience will be a great addition to our group as we prepare to participate in multiple competitions in the upcoming season," added Kuntz.
Jorgensen has not been signed as 'Designated Player' and his deal will come under the league's salary cap rules with him occupying an 'international roster slot'.
The Galaxy beat New York Red Bulls in the final of MLS Cup in December.
