Bayern's Kim sidelined for 'several weeks' with injury
Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae will miss "several weeks" with an Achilles tendon injury, coach Vincent Kompany said on Friday.
The injury rules him out of Saturday's trip to Union Berlin, along with South Korea's World Cup qualifiers against Oman and Jordan later in March.
"Min-jae is injured," Kompany said in a press conference, adding: "I hope it won't take too long, but he'll be out for several weeks."
Kompany said the defender was "struggling with his Achilles tendon".
"We hope he'll be available at some point but we need to make sure we don't overuse it with the workload he has already had," added the Belgian.
"Hopefully it's not something too serious."
Kim arrived from then Italian champions Napoli in the summer of 2023 and has gone on to make 73 appearances for Bayern in all competitions.
This season, he has played 23 of Bayern's 26 games, starting on each occasion.
Bayern captain Manuel Neuer returned to individual training on Friday but will not be fit in time for the Union match.
German tabloid Bild reported Neuer would "definitely" be back for Bayern's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Inter Milan on April 8.
In the Bundesliga, Bayern sit first in the table, eight points clear of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
