Bumrah 'available' for Mumbai's IPL clash with Bengaluru
India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday joined his IPL team Mumbai Indians and will be available to play their next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the franchise confirmed.
Bumrah, the 2024 international cricketer of the year, has been out of action since he missed the final day of the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January because of a back injury.
Five-time champions Mumbai, who face Bengaluru at their home Wankhede Stadium on Monday, announced Bumrah's return with a video on social media titled "ready to roar".
Later, coach Mahela Jayawardene, in a pre-match press conference, said, "He's available, he's training today, and should be available (for the RCB game).
"He arrived last night, he had his sessions with NCA (National Cricket Academy, now Centre of Excellence) to finalise that, he's been handed over to our physios. He's bowling today, so all good."
Television images showed a chatty Bumrah training with the squad and bowling in the nets.
Bumrah, 31, will be key to Mumbai's hopes of a turnaround after losing three of their four matches this season.
Meanwhile Jayawardene also said former captain Rohit Sharma "looks fit" after he missed Friday's 12-run defeat to Lucknow Super Giants, due a knee injury he suffered while training.
